YOGA TEACHER
What are you curious about in your practice?
Everything. On my mat, I am always looking to try something new to see what happens. It could be holding a pose longer, trying a different variation of a pose, incorporating a prop, etc. Being open to trying new things helps me feel like I am always in creation–on and off that mat.
If your life could be summed up by one quote what would it be?
“The most precious gift we can offer others is our presence. When mindfulness embraces those we love, they will bloom like flowers.”
Who Inspires you?
The goal setters, the deep thinkers, the truth tellers, the tender-hearted and the authentic souls of the world; those who are constantly working to grow individually, and as a result, impact and inspire those in their community.
Bio
oga is one of the greatest, most impactful discoveries of my life. I first found yoga in December 2016 at a time in my life where curiosity led me to slow down my fast-paced lifestyle and more intentionally prioritize doing my inner work, which included developing both a gratitude and meditation practice. Looking back, it feels very synchronous that at the same time introspection became really important to me, I found yoga as an avenue for self-exploration (literally in the same month!). My work on my mat gave me deeper access to presence, self-awareness, self-love, a safe place to explore, and a wildly compassionate community. SWEAT was like magic for my mind, body and spirit.
For six years, I went to SWEAT several times a week and continued evolving my mindfulness and yoga practices, soaking in the inspirational messaging and energy, appreciating and accepting the invitations in class to play and explore, and deeply valuing the “come as you are” mentality of this special space. Over the years, it became clear to me that the work I did on my mat was transferring to my life “off the mat.” All of the learning and growing I was doing was becoming a new way of life for me, and in the fall of 2022 it led me to sign-up for the 120-hour Mindful Communities Teacher Training to continue my learning journey. After this truly beautiful learning experience, I then went on and completed my 200-hour Self Discovery Yoga Teacher Training in 2023.
The opportunity to share mindfulness and yoga with others is a gift, but to share this gift at SWEAT is a dream. I am deeply inspired by others who are “in the work” and I have found no better place than SWEAT where creation is constant, self-reflection is foundational, growth is encouraged, innovation is celebrated, and joy is continual. It is an honor to be joining the ranks of some of the people who inspire me most. It is my hope as a yoga teacher, that I can create the same safe, loving, supportive and playful environment for you and/or your children that was created for me.
Outside of the studio, I live with my wonderful husband and our curious, determined and incredibly sweet baby girl, Lily. Being home with my family is my (other!) happy place. I love “ordinary” nights at home with my family as much as our weekend get-aways; I value deep conversations and time with my closest friends; I enjoy all types of games (card games, beach games, NYT daily games); and I appreciate music of all kinds (especially country!). I am a tenderhearted soul and an eternal optimist. I have a natural tendency to see the good in people. I am passionate about self-discovery and see it as necessary to living an authentic, inspired, compassionate, honest, and intentional life.
Professionally, I am a fourth grade teacher. I have had the honor of teaching elementary-aged children for close to 20 years. I care deeply about my work and consider guiding, nurturing and empowering children to be one of the greatest joys and biggest blessings of my life. Needless to say, the opportunity to teach Kids’ Yoga is incredibly close to my heart, as it is the intersection of some of my greatest passions. I amso excitedto get started
